The Four Month Visit

Yesterday Madeline had her 4 Month Visit at the Pediatrician. I love our Pedi, he is amazing....and this is coming from someone that has been to many of appointments with various Drs for a kid with allergy-induced asthma. I knew just how amazing Dr. D'Urso was when he did the first initial visit in the hospital. He starting speaking Italian to Madeline, then telling us about how that was his Grandmother's name and the way he said her name, Madaleen, she just looked up at him with comfort...even at a day old.
Madeline lights up every time she sees Dr. D'Urso now and decided to impress him so much yesterday [by grabbing his fingers and pulling up into a standing position] he says she's like a 6 month old! She also decided to have a whole conversation with him just to prove just how social she is.haha. He always says "Oh Maddie, you are growing up too fast on me" ... I love that, it's like he understands how I feel too.hehe.
Nurse Meany [that's what I call her in my head since she is the shot giver] asked me how much I thought she weighed....my estimate: 14 lbs. The actual: 14 lbs exactly! Momma knows her baby. She is also now 2 feet tall!
Dr. D doesn't really believe in the whole percentile thing, they are very old school and take more of a baby's grow at different rates approach to things. But, since that seems to be what every one asks and to avoid explaining that to people, I just calculate her percentiles when I get home. Madeline is at the 46th percentile for weight and 26th percentile for height.
I was also told I could start food now, but after talking with my husband, I think we are going to hold off on that. She seems very satisfied at this point and there is really no nutritional benefit to starting solids. So, we will wait another month and then approach the idea again. The Nurse said that a lot of nursing mothers make that choice and wait until 6 months. Plus, she is such a happy baby....if she wasn't, then there would be a reason. So, I think I will just keep my baby a baby for a little while longer. It seems like once you give them food, that's it, they grow up before you know it. I know I cannot stop the growing process and I don't want to!, she's progressing wonderfully! But, Anthony and I decided to wait a little while longer for that milestone...because we can.

Shots? Pssh. She's a trooper. She let out a wail for each and brought tears to my eyes, but when I picked her up she gave a smile. THAT's what it's all about. She was sleepy afterwards and got a little warm, but after some generic tylenol and sleep...she is 100% today!

Before shots

I brought her "lovey" along.

Daddy's favorite.

Nurse Meany got me, Mom.

She really got me. :(
