Dear Madeline,
I am sorry. It seems as though you have my short legs. You are in 3 month or bigger onesies, but can still wear newborn pants. If you are angry with me when you get older, I will understand.
Love,
Mommy
Over the past week we have written an entire research paper on Saudi Arabia, a paper on Jamaica's music history and completed a numerous amount of other assignments. So, yesterday the school number pops up on the caller id....my heart sinks....what else could possibly be due? It was the school nurse.
(((flashback to 3 weeks ago the other nurse called because Josh "sprained" is ankle in gym. She iced and ace bandaged it.)))
So, this nurse says, "Josh said he hurt his wrist in baseball a few nights ago, then he just re injured it playing hockey in gym.".
I chuckled and said, "This is news to me. But, let me also explain that he hurt his ankle a couple of weeks ago and coincidentally his girly friend did the same thing."
Well, I had a flashback. I used to do the same thing at this age. It could have been for attention since I was an only child for 10 years then my brother came along. But, I'd like to think it was for the infatuation of people with casts and like a weirdo, I always wanted to break something. It just looked so cool to have a cast, you pick the color, your friends sign it. I never got a cast, just always an ace bandage.....
Yes, I always had something "broken". I wonder how much I cost my parents in X-rays. So, with Josh, I don't know if it is (1) attention (2) infatuation with a cast (3) other people are getting hurt and it's the thing to do (4) he just gets hurt A LOT
Well, he took the bandage off before he got home because he didn't want me to know he was hurt, so it couldn't be for attention. So, that's good.
But, the Apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
Something else I wanted? Braces. I had the straightest teeth ever and was sad I didn't need braces. Josh asks me a lot if I think he needs braces and if he will be able to get them because they are so awesome.
Funny how kids are so much like their parents.
SAME HERE! Except the braces part..I did have to get those. But I always needed an X-Ray on something.
ReplyDeleteAlso, funny you are 10 years older than your brother. My stepdaughter is 10 and my son (wow that sounds weird) will be here at the end of the month. How'd that work out for ya?
Well, I'm glad I was not the only one that wished for a cast!!
ReplyDeleteYep, 10 years older than Joey. I was a little jealous at first, but loved him dearly after that. :)
LOL... casts were cool, but I never had to wear one, though I sprained my knee and that just sucked cuz' I couldn't go play outside :(
ReplyDeleteYay!! Welcome to the club! :D I'm glad I got this childhood obsession out,now I see I wasn't a freak....they WERE COOL!
